WordPress: Current Location Widget (map)

Ever wanted to pin your current location to make your mark on the world? Well now you can!

Using our custom build Current Location Widget allows you to display a world map on your site. To do so, follow the steps below.

How to use this widget

1. Go to Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard. Click here for more information on the widgets area.

2. Click and drag the widget called “pipdig – Current Location” to the sidebar section (or any other section you prefer).

3. Now you can enter the information for the map marker. The marker uses Latitude and Longitude to set the location. You will need to go to this page first to get the Latitude and Longitude numbers. Then it’s just a matter of copying and pasting the numbers into the widget.

4. Click save and you’re done!

Note: You can now change the color of the map and marker by going to Appearance > Customize in your dashboard. Once in the Customizer, look for the “Current Location” tab at the bottom of the options on the left.

HI, I would like ask whether it is possible to show on the map the current location, but also keep the previous one….so that we can click on different location to explore?
Also can we link the blog post with the location on the map?
If I write about India, to locate it in the map?
    Thank you

I am unable to add a “-” negative sign to my coordinates for some reason. When I try to type it in or copy and paste it won’t work. I am trying to put the coordinates in for Florida and it shows up wrong because the negative sign will not register.

Hi Caroline, I’ve just pushed update 1.12.2 for the “pipdig Power Pack” plugin. If you go to the Plugins page in your dashboard, then click “Check for updates” next to the pipdig Power Pack, you shoulc be able to update. After doing so, this issue should be fixed. Let me know if not 🙂
