WordPress: How to create an ‘Archives’ page

All of our themes include an archive page template which displays all of your historic posts in date order. Click here to view an example of the Archive page.

To create your Archive page, follow the steps below:

1. Create a new page by going to Pages > Add New

2. Look for the ‘Page Attributes’ box on the right of the screen.

3. Change the ‘Template’ option to ‘Archives’.

If you would like to add the new Archives page to your main navbar/menu, you can now add that via this guide.

Hi! Love this, but is there a way to add a visible featured image on the page?

Hi Seth, that’s not possible at the moment unfortunately. However we might be able to add this as an option in future.

Hello! This is super easy and wonderful! Just wondering, is it possible to organize them by categories instead of by date?

Hi Nicole, glad it helped! This is not possible with the Archives page unfortunately. However, you may wish to check out this plugin which would allow you to create a proper “sitemap” page like that 🙂
